Tips for Scratch Free Lenses

Tip 1:  Choose a great Anti-Glare 

Choosing an anti-glare lens that is a better quality will absolutely prolong the life of your lens.  A Crizal Alize coating, for example, has easy cleaning technology, resistance to dirt/dust and great cleanability which in the long run, can prevent scratching.

Tip 2:  Know how to clean your lenses

Cleaning sprays and microfiber cloths are great and serve a wonderful purpose, but the best way to clean your glasses is extremely simple.  Soap and water.  Seriously!  No need to spend money on pre-moisened wipes from a big optical chain or CVS, when the safest thing for your lenses (and your frames) are every day household items.

Tip 3:  Use your case

We have a saying here at L’optique.  If they aren’t on your face, put them in the case.  We know that carrying a case around can be a bit of a hastle sometimes but utilizing your case is extremely important in extending the life of your lenses and frames.

Not only are glasses here to make you look great, but you’ve got to see out of them too.  ;)

It’s that time of year again.  The whole crew is traveling to New York City for market!  L’optique will be closed both Friday the15th and Saturday the 16th of April returning back to regular business hours on Monday the 18th.

This collection is full of cheerful and creative acrylic frames ranging from bright candy-like colors to dark matte with sterling silver and gold deatils.  Handmade in France from start to finish, every frame is truly a piece of art.

The company was started by Jay Owens, restoring gold-filled 1940’s frames in his 18-foot recreational vehicle.   Traveling the world, he collected and restored frames all over the United States.  From American Optical, Bausch & Lomb to Shuron Optical, Owens collected these mass produced frames that were made out of 1/10 12k gold-filled wire – a material that was developed to last forever! Once the company expanded, Retrospecs starting restoring cellulose acetate and combination frames manufactured after WWI from 1940’s-1980’s.

We are thrilled to have recieved our collection of Cutler and Gross spectacles and sunglasses.  This particular line is fun, adventorous and always sophisticated.  The process of producing a single frame takes 42 steps, 6 weeks and knowledgable craftsman.  Each step involves people who have been able to refine and adapt the Cutler and Gross aesthetic while still preseving traditional techniques and beautiful materials.  Since the company has been founded nearly 40 years ago, the brand has continued to develop and expand.  Cutler and Gross prides itself on creating timeless, hardworking and functional frames that are design-led.
